Catawba Lodge woudn't be anything without its committees.  If you're new to the OA, joining a committee is a great way to meet new people, get involved in the Lodge, have fun, and learn a thing or two.  If you're interested, please check out the "Committees" webpage (sidebar or above link) to contact the committee chairman or adviser.

Come to Beaver Weekend!

  Posted: May 6, 2007

On May 18-20, Catawba Lodge will be hosting the Beaver Weekend at Camp Grimes!  We are asking for all troops to come out and spend a fun weekend supporting your council camp.  We will be preparing the camp for the summer season and need all the help we can get!  Please bring work gloves, shovels, hoes, mattocks etc.  We will be getting dirty and doing some serious service for our camp and council.  Arrowmen and non-arrowmen alike are invite to come out and support Camp Grimes.  If your troop has anyone that needs brotherhood or ordeal, both programs will be offered that weekend. Registration is due by the end of the business day on May 10 at the scout office.  Check in will start at 5:30pm on Friday and end at 8 pm.  Thanks for your support of Catawba Lodge and the Mecklenburg County Council Scout Reservation!

Website Suggestions/Comments

  Posted: May 1, 2007

It's come to my attention that there are a LOT of out of date pages on the Lodge Website.  Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have ideas/feedback.

There are two things you can do to ensure that this process is efficient and speedy: 1) Please post it in the Website Suggestions/Comments forum (click link above).  2) Email me (see address at bottom).  Include "OA" in the subject line, and please give me a link to the page that is out of date/not working.

Since our dates aren't "synched" to a main database (our server cannot handle it), you may come across some pages that have incorrect dates, etc., but are correct in other places.  If you come across such pages, PLEASE shoot me an email so we can fix these confusing pages and have a more function website.

Thanks everyone!

2007 Dixie - Directions & Map for Camp Blue Heron

  Posted: April 20, 2007

The 2007 Dixie is being held at Camp Blue Heron near Savannah, Georgia. Following are links to maps for the camp:

Directions to Camp Blue Heron

Camp Blue Heron Map

A little more information on directions to Camp Blue Heron passed along from a Scouter in that Lodge.

When leaving camp today, I realized that some of your drivers may like some clues on how to find CBH.

When you leave the paved road and make that left on Scout Road (at the big BSA Camp arrow), follow the road for 1 mile.  Look for an arrow with BSA on it to turn right on dirt road.  Follow the arrows.  Be careful of one area that has a marked ditch on the left side of the road.

Watch out for wildlife.  I stopped for 3 deer on my way out about 7 pm.

We are marking the signs and ditch with chemlights.  There are 2 wooden bridges to cross-- one is a SSS bridge.

See you all Friday.
